Horneblower - are you referring to the spike just now, or the general low?

Punted a small long today - just don't believe this low will hold.

If you could forecast the weather by the oil price we could safely do away with the met. office! Even with the best scientific knowledge and computing power available to mankind - weather forecasts more than four or five days in advance are toilet paper. I considered the "warm weather" reports a few days back in this vein.

I trust the investors on this thread know that. Funny old game. Quiet thread at the mo and I am a newb at investing in oil rather than oil co.s (regular lurker here though).

Seems a very different game this - most of my oil shares suffered a bad correction May to Dec, even though this period contained the all time high for oil Jul-Aug. Wish I understood this better than....

a) the market is a bit mad

....and....

b) statements like 'by the look of the oil price' are meaningless about a day later - it indicates bugger all about the forecasts of anything (sorry H, not meaning to be rude)

....but that's the best I can muster at the end of '06.
