The First Gold Mine on the Emerald Isle
11/10/04
TORONTO, Nov 10, 2004 (Canada NewsWire via COMTEX) --
On today's edition of Canada's Business Report, host Robert Graham speaks with the head of a Canadian company that's working to establish a gold mine in Northern Ireland.
Graham speaks with Andrew Smith, President and CEO of Galantas Gold Corporation. Galantas owns property in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, that Smith says has a gold reserve of about 500,000 ounces. The property used to be owned by U.K. mining outfit Rio Tinto, which spent millions of dollars in exploring the site.
Galantas wants to develop an open pit mine and has all the necessary approvals from local authorities. Smith tells Canada's Business Report, the company is now trying to secure financing for the project and is "currently in advanced discussions with a number of groups."
