Was discussing this very topic while acquiring a helluva hangover with a friend who works in IT last night. From my hazy recollection, he reckons there is still a bit of downside to come followed by some bumping along the bottom before recovery starts. However, he agreed that there will be massive buying within the next 24 months. Another friend chipped in that a lot of the venture capitalists have been quietly buying up electronics/IT businesses at rock bottom prices (he suggested well below asset value in some cases) ready for the upturn. It seems to me to be quite a shrewd strategy for a four or five year plan. I am convinced that there is an incredible opportunity to buy companies cheaply at the moment in the sectors which have been worst hit. Wait for the right moment, buy on the dips and it should pay off handsomely with a bit of patience. Any thoughts?
