Thank you for that. Shedloads was [I think] saying that there was no need to smelt for Palladium - only refine. When I queried that he said I was wrong. I still don't think I am but he pilloried me for my ignorance.
My original remarks were inspired by an element of concern about the smelting.
We are often told that the Russian mining industry is desperately in need of modernisation and funding. We also know that, in order to recover anything from tailings it is necessary for those tailings to have been less than perfectly smelted [or leached]. Now I simply wonder whether the smelting equipment has improved sufficiently to be able to get beneficial yields from the re-smelting of tailings.
It may be, even if they have not improved, that new smelting equipment could be put in place - but that, of course, alters the capital requirements.
