Seadrill loses drillship deal

Norwegian oilfield services group Seadrill said today that the partners in the Ormen Lange gas field off Norway had cancelled a four-year $806 million job for its deep-water drillship West Navigator.
Seadrill had announced the preliminary deal on 8 December but said then that the letter of intent granted by Shell was subject to approval by the Ormen Lange partnership.
"The intended contract extension and alteration agreed with the operator is not approved by the Ormen Lange project partners," Seadrill said.
