This news item, though dated 3 weeks ago, is resurfacing in various journals and news alerts today. Very little we don't already know, but it expands slightly on the company description given in the thread header:
TORRANCE, Calif.-(Business Wire)-December 13, 2006 - Enova Systems, (AMEX:ENA) (AIM:ENV) (AIM:ENVS), an early stage production company in an emerging industry and a leading developer of proprietary electric, hybrid and fuel cell digital power management systems, is pleased to announce that it has partnered with Tokyo R&D to supply an electric bus to the Hokuriku Electric Power Company in Japan. The bus will now undergo testing and evaluation by the company in efforts to generate further volumes for this type of vehicle.
Enova supplied Tokyo R&D with a 120kW Electric Drive System earlier this year for integration into the bus. Enova's electric drive system provides all the functionality one would find under the hood of an internal combustion engine powered vehicle. The electric system consists of an enhanced induction motor and the electronic controls that regulate the flow of electricity to and from the batteries at various voltages and power to propel the vehicle.
The 120kW system is an ideal choice for light trucks, delivery vans, and mid-sized buses using electric and series hybrid-electric propulsion. This system can provide 1664NM of drive shaft torque when used with our gear reduction unit and operates on a DC input voltage that can range from 250 to 425VDC.
Mike Staran, Enova's Vice President of Sales and Marketing, said, "Enova is confident that our relationship with Tokyo R&D will further strengthen our position in Japan. A strategic partnership in this area could certainly result in an increased share of the market for this region."
