DOES ZOO LOOK LIKE A TEN BAGGER-CAN ANY OF YOU EXPERTS LET ME KNOW HERE PLEASE?
Tech Punk - Sat, 22 Oct 05 :
Oh dear siwel old bean, you really are coming out with flannel now. I like the way I talk of the past and you turn its on head as if I'm talking about the future. You are getting desperate for some reason, of which I'm not sure why.
You are even arguing against the thoughts of "blu-ray" on how long it will take the next gen to be the mainstream.
Authorers are investing heavily to use "DES" because in the long run it will save them millions. Now why would they do that if current DVD is dead in the water. Why would they do that if they think "DES" will be useless to them when next gen is released.
You know nothing about the industry and just making it up as u go along. The funny thing is u did the same with SCi. Same scenario because it wasn't in black and white siwel didn't belive it. SCi I researched well and via discussions with overseas distributors, publishers and developers, I and many others realised the huge potential going foward. The SCi bb was full of details yet to be announced to the city. Poor old siwel never belived it and the rest is history.
I have done the same with Zoo, I have spent many hours disscussing the company and their products and their future prospects. SCi was a little easier as there was only a few games and few deals, Zoo however is different. There are many applications for the software and many deals. Its hard work and time consumming but it will be worth it. I have phoned many types of companys, from authorers, to studios, to edutainment companies, marketing companies, toy companies, the list is endless.
I feel I have done my ground work and Zoo are doing the hardwork, I must admit I would prefer to see them more pro-active on the newsfront as there is much to be shouted from the roof tops as far as I can see. However its not all Zoo's fault, unlike SCi who were able in many cases to control the newsflow, Zoo are dealing with much bigger fish, who control the newsflow.
Maybe we will just have the Disney news to digest for now and wait weeks for the next news which could be in no particular order:
Further deals with Disney, Menu Regionalisation is only one of a number of applications for the DVD-EXTRA STUDIO technology. Now the foot is in the door 'speed menus' look a good bet. All those classic DVD's already released could be totally revamped and re-released looking fresh and new.
Further deals with other Hollywood studios, if its good enough for Disney, then its good enough for the rest. It is anticipated that both the number of studios using the technology, and the number of applications for the technology, will grow considerably.
Deals with authoring houses, some of the good research on here has shown many houses now offering "DES". How are they using it and on what?
Edutainment and Educational uses, thats not been mentioned for a while, but there is plenty out there.
Marketing tool is difficult to research but many houses offer their services to corporate companies, the same houses that offer "DES".
Companies investing their future based on "DES", eg Circle, iDV, to name a couple, how many more are there and what do they offer?
Zoo patents that tie in DVD, Blu-ray, HD DVD, UMD etc, because siwel can't find any dosen't mean they are not there.
OEM deal with major software writer (I'll say no more as will get hung).
Further European expansion for ZDPL products inc "DES" products. They seem to have PAL covered now but that is only through my research. They also have a Japanese product but they have yet to annouce any details of the Japanese tie up. No sign of any ZDPL "DES" products going across the pond but would be a huge increase for the expansion next year.
Their is a definate tie up with Activision, but nobody would know. Its the sort of news that could come out left field at any time depending on when Activision allow the news.
Changing some titles to a more pro-active UK distributor with a much larger guranteed minimum.
Upfront and royalty games of which the only comment is approx "150", many have been found on this bb, I have a list of some not mentioned here before. A full list of the the products would be nice prior to the main selling season.
Just a few thoughts off the top of my head, could be plenty more I have not mentioned. The SP does not recognise any of the above, and whilst Zoo may be dormant on the news front its moving the buisness foward fast.
With all this possible news there must be a time when they become pro-active and I'm sure many peeps have Zoo on the monitor for signs of this happening. A few large buys last week suggest some thought Disney was the start, lets see if we get more news within the next couple of weeks to clarify their position.
