APHZOMBIE...Yep that article illustrates zoo's problem very well, none of the patents held by zoo actually cover any of the items on the list. In fact the problem is so acute that zoo was out looking for third party partners to help them try and fund tools for the new formats.
"we are actively considering a number of collaborative partners in order to part fund and also accelerate our development of this capability for the professional authoring market"
No announcements of any partners, hardly any money left in the kitty after wasting what they had on hothouse.
Its always hard to fund research when you never make a profit despite cash calls "for development". With no patent protection, with no "wrinkle" that they could get royalties for, do you really think Zoo is keen on the next generation formats coming out next year...hardly lol.

TechPunk...I was trying to be positive for you, but you are probably right, only one or two of the 3rd party games likely to get anywhere close to 1m sales so the royalty to ZOO for their "wrinkle" is unlikely to be very much. As to WWTBAM, well even when they get a decent % for developing the product, they still cant cover their huge cost base and turn a profit, hardly likely to be any different this time is it...:)
5yrs lifespan for dvd, well am sure granny will have her old one in 10 years but the problem is that developers will be making exciting interactive games using the full potential of Blueray starting in a few months wont they. But without any royalties for zoo unfortunately.Difficult to see publishers/developers trying to run much further with imitation interactivity when they can wow their customers with the real thing on the new formats. The biggest problem of course is that customers wont have to dump their current dvd library, just buy a 30 quid Blu-Ray machine (china will soon knock the prices down)and play their old dvd's as well as the exciting new interactive ones, super clever interactive games, exciting films with interactive elements, smart educational tools...in fact all the sectors much mentioned on the thread :)
As to the higher lows, lower highs, I actually agree with you, the chart is coming to a crux (I have warned you a number of times), now the big question is if ZOO is worth the current 30 million let alone a higher price....dont think so, do you.
Now the problem for holders is that they are in the hole, some big time so when the break comes, small volume will do some nasty damage. A big seller unloading will do some very big damage. There is no room anymore for the price to fall (you mentioned the higher lows not me...hehe).
Personally would be delighted to reverse and take advantage of a major news generated run....but with the next generation formats undermining everything, its hardly likely is it.
Whenever you see senior management jumping ship despite serious share options floating about, you have to ask why? Especially when the company tries to bury the news :)
