Tobruk changed hands many times, & it must have been about 1942. Yep he was older than I by about 6 years. Had many friends finish up as POW's (they called themselves Kreigies after the germain word for prisoner), they were taken from the retreat from Dunkirk, formed the rear guard. Think it was the Light horse Brigade.
My cousin also waas there, & he said he arrived back in blighty with hardly a stitch of clothing to his name, no one took any notice of them as they arrived, & HAD HE FELT LIKE IT, HE COULD HAVE DESSERTED & PEEPS WOULD JUST HAVE ASSUMED HE WAS KILLED.
