Do I really want to see footage of a guy having a noose put around neck?

That may be so. But im saying
1. that what was wrong with all this was that the US quietly backed Saddam, they previously happy to ignire Iraq's human rights record when it suited them eg. atrocities like the killing of 148 people in the mostly Shia town of Dujail after a failed assassination attempt against him in July 1982, and the gassing of 5,000 Kurdish villagers of Halabja in March 1988.
2.
It was more to do with oil than anything else. Why dont they go and sort out the mess in Mogadishu - except those poor somalis have no oil wealth.
3, finally, the timing of the case and the hanging seem to dovetail particularly nicely into the US political calendar
Im not a muslim, nor political in any way. But I find all the pomp and circumstance around a hanging abhorrent
