LONDON (AFX) - Antrim Energy Inc, a Canadian oil and gas producer, said it abandoned the Bennachie well in the North Sea and started flowing gas at an exploration hole at the Tierra del Fuego field in Argentina.
Oil found at Bennachie, located on Block 21/15a, was "too small to exploit", said Antrim in a drilling statement.
Antrim and Nexen Petroleum UK Ltd are partners in the project.
A little local news.
In Argentina, Antrim said the Los Flamenco-1001a well, located in the Tierra del Fuego field, flowed at a rate of about 14 mln cubic feet of gas per day.
It noted that the flow rate of the hole was "too high for the on-site testing equipment to obtain an accurate measurement of the condensate".
"Wells in the area generally produce at least 50 barrels of liquid -- both condensate and natural gas liquids -- per million cubic feet of gas production. The initial pressure results would indicate that this well is a new pool discovery," Antrim said.
Antrim added drilling work has started on the third well, Las Violetas-104, also in Tierra del Fuego. monicca.egoy@afxnews.com mbe/nes
