SMS.ac has been named to FierceWireless' annual ``Fierce 15'' list.
FierceWireless, an e-mail newsletter covering the wireless and mobile Internet market, evaluated more than 400 privately-held firms based on company vision, revenue potential, quality of deals, strength of technology, partnerships, and competitive market position.
The company rates San Diego-based SMS.ac as one of the top 15 emerging wireless companies in the world for 2005.
``SMS.ac's mobile messaging communities are the closet thing the wireless industry has to a Yahoo,'' says Stephen Wellman, executive editor of FierceWireless. ``They have a global brand, they have registered millions of mobile phone users in 182 countries and they have forged key, strategic partnerships -- particularly with mobile carriers for connectivity and billing.
