Harry....I am not going to argue with you.....but....
how many China related stocks were affected by the tsunami? None that I know of. Markets do suffer from a panic effect sometimes, but usually there is at least a tiny connection between cause and effect.
e.g. Madrid bombings -> 9/11 continuation -> who is next?
Tsunami in Indian ocean -> ...... -> devastation in China.
I cant find a missing link, or links, however obscure, unless you subscribe to the Nostradamus predictions of global disaster, or similar babylonian predictions preached by Jehova's Witnesses. In the latter case I would expect god's wrath to be targeted against the decadence of western society, rather than China! ;)
And no... flooding in Venice would not effect the FTSE, if it was caused by localised conditions, and not by massive climate change, which was the implication. Perhaps a poor example as it was easy to take out of context - It was meant to highlight geographical differences between China and the countries surrounding the Indian Ocean.
OK. Enough already. Show is over. :)
Now back to lots of sensible posts by the regulars...
