Whilst we are on this topic I would like to ask about the rules relating to private pensions if anyone is au fait with them. I have a private 'flexi- pension with Scottish Amicable now Prudential, to which I have been contributing for 24 years. It will mature in 2006 when I am supposed to buy an annuity. Am I obliged to buy an annuity or can I convert this into a sipps type pension. The annuity rates and growth( ha ha ) are now very poor and less than 50% of what I was lead to believe they would be by the selling agent.
