Vikesh - my grandmother died in hospital recently. She was 89 and been unwell for some time on and off so wasn't a great surprise but the treatment she received was very poor. We ended up having a formal inquest with doctors, nurses, etc in the witness box getting grilled by the coroner and us. In the end it couldn't be established that the poor care has caused her death (although wasn't ruled out) but the coroner gave the hospital a real rap on the knuckles and even the consultant admitted the care had been poor - he basically shrugged his shoulders and blamed it partly on a lack of resources in the "system". Bottom line is sadly I think you have to push and push, shout, scream, threaten, etc. to make sure your father gets the right attention and treatment. With hindsight we certainly didn't push enough. The individuals mean well but there just aren't enough resouces. I just had some tests done privately spending a day in a nice room getting waited on hand and foot with overflowing nurses and doctors (the consultant even gave me his mobile number if I wanted to check anything!). The contrast in resources is just incredible.
