A team of experts is analysing various factors and parameters in rolling mills to see how one can improve quality of products and efficiency of the units.
A team of experts from Netherlands is presently visiting Mandi Gobindgarh town of Fatehgarh Sahib district and Ludhiana of Punjab to analyse the energy saving of steel rolling mills.
Four members of the team are visiting the steel rolling complex of Mandi Gobindgarh while one member is inspecting industrial units at Ludhiana. The team is analysing various factors and parameters in rolling mills, which can improve the quality of the products and efficiency of the units.
The four members of the team, Nico A Williamc, Lon J M Van Der Zon, Ing J S Zijlmans and Gustaaf A J M Van Ditzhuijzen on Thursday visited industrial units in Mandi Gobindgarh on the invitation of the All India Steel Rerollers Association (AISRA).
Final report
The team will submit a final report about their observation and analysis made on the industrial unit to Punjab with the efforts of the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology (PSCST).
The team is visiting PSCST to interact with local industrialists so that the concept of energy saving can be discussed and explored with the experiences of the visiting team. PSCST officials who are accompanying the team said that their organisation is providing consultancy to small scale industry of the state under the guidance of the Executive Director N S Tiwana and Additional Director M S Jaggi and it made efforts to develop the Air Pollution Control Device (APCD) and introduced the energy conservation concept and to minimise the industrial losses.
As per information received, PSCST contacted Amritsar representatives of a company Pum to take the services of their Netherlands experts.
Better quality
The team is on the industrial visit from October 16 to October 27. The team is of the view that if care is taken at the input stage and the processing stage then it will improve the efficiency and quality of the products.
A very crude method of process in being employed in the units and there is a scope of mechanisation and automation, which could improve the economics of the units.
The team highly appreciated the hardworking nature of the workers and owners of the unit. A spokesman of AISRA said that the local industrial units are very organised and their way of the work is very logistic.
