"Centamin Egypt is a company listed on the ASX as well as on AIM which should be close to the top of anyone’s list of top picks for 2006 as an advanced gold explorer sitting on a fast expanding resource. The company was virtually out of action for two years due to a dispute with Egyptian bureaucracy, and is now making up for lost time. A recent report confirmed a 47 per cent resource upgrade to a contained 4.49 million ounces. The additional 1.43million ozs came from a drilling campaign using seven rigs which had punched down a total 451 holes into the southern end of Sukari Hill. Drilling is continuing with a focus now on stepping out to the north and on “infilling” the two southern zones of the orebody, the so-called Amun and Ra zones. An analyst from Williams de Broe visited Sukari Hill in the summer and reckons the company could have a resource of 10 million ounces within the next 12-18 months which surely means that it will attract the attention of a major."
