Morning all. Happy days eh? Not convinced that buybacks do one bit of good. Companies that are sitting on cashpiles (BP, GSK et al) should be increasing their dividends and distributing profits back to the shareholders. That's why they invested in the first place. Higher dividend yield would encourage purchases, and thereby increase share prices.
No good telling me my shares in BP are worth more because of the buybacks, they fecking ain't!
Could somebody pass this view on to Lord Browne when they next see him? He's not in my diary until mid June.
