Yes Ferny - oil has been found at Sandhills before it just was not economical to produce at the time when oil was $15 per barrel, and was never fully tested. The Oolite is a difficult resevoir but with new techniques, better understanding of the seismic data and horizontal drilling in to the strata oil should flow commercially, hopefully without too much water.
The Sherwood Sandstone should be a better resevoir and is the source of the prolific Wytch Farm 12miles from IoW. Again this is at Bouldnor-1.
