Balanced View: Intelligent Discussion of Market Trends
FSE - Tue, 30 Dec 03 :
There was a survey in the USA and published on CNN if anyone saw it asking at what level Americans would consider the Euro to USD exchange rate to be a problem. A fair few thought it was of concern now but the majority are not phased until it get to over 150c, and some cant see what it has to do with anything at all unless one wants to buy Belgian Chockies in Brussels wherever that is !
My view is that the USD decline is still in force and its just too risky in anything other than short term positions.
Wheelbarrows and D Marks comes to mind ?
>hatman..... Maybe you should start up a thread on Inv and Unit trusts and we can fight on there ? I made a good profit for many years trading in and out of Flemings who ran Unit Trusts and Investment Trust with the same or similar composite investments. I used to buy the Inv Trusts when they were at a large discount to NAV and then as they went close to or into premium bought the units. I have not followed them for years now but in the past they were NOT illiquid at all and the spreads were no worse than on anything else.
Anyrate maybe times have changed as I say.
The only Inv Trust I hold now is PDT which is a minnow.
I disagree that Investment Trusts are a poor investment at the moment as some of the discount to NAV figures are making them very attractive.
If we see a sustained recovery then Investment Trust will massively outperform as the discount to NAV falls.
Of course if you are speaking from the point of view that we are due another large fall then you are correct, otherwise I flat disagree with you.rgds
