Ashtead (AHT) - The recovery continues

Some really good posts today, from VIS and TWIRL. VIS, if you do find some large cap stocks that will do another BAE or ICI, could you post it here and your views (after you've taken a position of course, though with big cap stocks that's probably less of an issue). Then when you head off to make big money, you can take some of us with you! I think that's the reason rescuer and Hatto are so popular, they share their research so others can benefit from it.

twirl, re spreadbets, I tried something similar this year. Used some spare savings cash that I shouldn't be using to buy shares in RTD before results as it was a guaranteed winner as far as I was concerned. The drop from 31p to 20p was not nice, and if I'd been spreadbetting I would've been wiped out. As you say it's critical you don't overstretch yourself. I would also thought the only people who should really be spreadbetting are those with a sizeable CGT issue to deal with, rather than just the usual "punters".

I did a tally last night and I'm currently down 25% on last year's profit, which is about a 5% gain overall. It would've been a lot worse if not for rescuer's research (would've been nearer 50% down). I for one hopes he continues to share his research with us all.

That reminds me, I still need to put in my gamblers stockchallenge portfolio for next year!
