Yes still holding VOG though I did topslice a few when I was a little nervous with how the placing was going. As usual that turned out to be the wrong decision and I had been spooked by some very negative reporting (mostly in the Daily Mail) suggesting that the company was struggling to raise the capital and that they were short of funds. I was pleased that the one morning I was on the ball was the 22nd Dec when they announced that they had bought the remaining part of the West Med field that they where already the majority holders of. I bought back some of my topsliced holding 36 seconds after 8 o'clock at 95.81 - fastest finger first!
Their recent rise has been since they declared that the placing was 2.5 times over subscribed thereby disproving both of the points made in the Mail ie that they were:
a) short of funds &
b) needed the cash to run the company.
Both of these two ran contrary to my own research but I was jumpy as my portfolio had become somewhat skewed with nearly 50% of value held in VOG which as you know has an sp that goes up and down like the proverbial "whore's drawers"!!! Lesson learned there - if you can't take the heat ... turn the damn monitor off!
Anyway I remain firmly behind both AHT and VOG, indeed since 22/12/05 I have been wondering which might make 250 first. Tough call but I think the latter might just nose it!!!
