ASOS.COM COMES BACK
NICK ROBERTSON, chief executive of ASOS.COM, expects the site to be back up and running within three weeks, following the loss of almost half its stock in the Hemel Hempstead oil refinery fire. Its 70,000 square foot warehouse, which opened in May, is next door to the fuel depot that exploded over a week ago. The site stopped trading and its shares were suspended after the fire, but Robertson says all is not lost. "We have sustained damage, but I don't think it's a showstopper," he told Drapers. "The vital thing now is to tell our customers that, through no fault of our own, we won't be able to fulfil their orders this time, and just hope they have the faith to shop with us again in the new year." New stock is currently being delivered to ASOS.COM's backup warehouse in Peterborough. (December 21 2005, AM)
