Areva wins 1.2 bln eur contract to supply propulsion for 6 French subs UPDATE

PARIS (AFX) - Nuclear power equipment producer Areva said a consortium of
its Areva TA unit and state shipyard DCN has won an 8 bln eur French government
contract to supply and maintain six new Barracuda nuclear submarines over 20
years, with Areva TA to supply the propulsion systems at a cost of 1.2 bln eur.
DCN chief executive Jean-Marie Poimboeuf said the first tranche of the
contract is valued at 1.05 bln eur for DCN and 210 mln for Areva.
