I see that on the Boxing Day C4 Racing programme that Derek Thompson, John Francome etc. where expressing their disappointment at Kempton's plan to scrap the Jumps course and turn it into a World Class All-weather track, after years of so many exciting finished in the King George. It seems that nothing is likely to happen soon and the spokeman for the Course said nothing is likely to happen until atleast 2004, after the outcome of the Industry Review into racing fixtures is known.
In their debate Derek Thompson and Francome also stressed that the North East was crying out for a new All-weather track possibly in Newcastle or York, for the die hard racing fans up there. It would also make it more accessible for northern trainers was well and would serve more purpose than another all-weathern track being built down south at Kempton.
So it maybe worth a few of us holders campaigning for a new track (writing letters/e-mails to the Company) to be built by Arena in Newcastle/York to capitalise on this demand/need, especially when Winter conditions continue decimate the NH fixtures every year. Would also provide growth in their core business apart from their Attheraces venture. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?
