Just one other point with regard to reneging on a deal. As far as I'm aware, and someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but in the far east isn't reneging on any deal considered as a very bad show, and basically a loss of face?
Which if I am not mistaken, is possibly the worse possible thing which can happen to anyone from that part of the world?

I may be wrong on this, but didn't the Japanese say that they wouldn't sign any treaty with regard to the production of nuclear weapons, not because they know their destructive power, but because they considered that the emperors word was sufficient?
