The Angolan Government has passed recently the regulation of the Diamonds Security Body (CSD), as a way to change the current one and adapt it to the demands and to fight the illegal trafficking of the precious stones, reads one of the editions of the State gazette delivered to ANGOP on Sunday.

CSD is a dependent organ with the head of the Informations Services (Sinfo) and is assigned to follow up the activities developed by firms linked to the prospection, exploitation, buying and trading of diamonds, as well as the gathering of informations concerned with the organ, says the regulation.


It is also its incumbency to propose and set measures which guarantee the detection of groups and individuals who deal in prospecting and illegal trafficking of diamonds.

The organism will also exert the control and follow up of the diamonds deposit and sums, as well as to present juridical and administrative measures which contribute for the stability of the sector. It is also in charge of assuring the production, assessment, classification, collection, and export of diamonds.

In the ambit of its operative autonomy, CSD must mobilize and organize its human resources and necessary material to guarantee the fight against prospecting and illegal trafficking of diamonds. It will also set up relations of institutional cooperation with the State, local administrations, justice organs and firms linked to the sector.

The organ is also in charge of making global analysis on the development of the market as well as the operative situation in the respective zones of exploitation. It will conduct studies on the national plus international markets and to provide advices related to the trading of the Angolan diamonds
