UK; most manufacturing is now in China, Taiwan and India but that is strategically dangerous imho. As with agriculture there may come a day when we need to produce our own supply ships and armaments in large quantities but will not have the capacity to do so. During the Second World War many car plants etc were easily switched over to manufacturing fighter planes, bombers and tanks for example. The French seem to be far more sensible in this respect than Britain (we're not Great anymore thanks to Mr Heath, Mrs Thatcher and Mr Blair and their 'free market' principles); just try taking over Renault.
I considered buying Tesco shares around 20 years ago at about £1:60 I seem to remember but decided not to owing to their trading methods. Financially, that was a mistake but making money isn't everything in life. It helps though.
