I doubt if you would see an announcement for some time. When someone is sacked they are usually placed on "garden leave" for a while, then a "compromise agreement" is signed after lawyers have been consulted by both sides. The "compromise agreement" gives the sacked person a nice payoff in return for their silence.

Maybe in a few weeks we will see something saying that he left by mutual consent, or for personal reasons, with the company wishing him well and thanking him for his wonderful service.
