I found this old piece of news on the Bexley Government website.

HIGH COURT REJECTS CHALLENGE TO BEXLEY'S LEISURE
A challenge to Bexley Council's plans for the future of its leisure facilities was rejected by the High Court in July.

Leisure Link, the independent trust that manages Bexley's indoor leisure centres brought the action even though it was one of the bidders for the long-term contract that will provide improved leisure facilities in the north, centre and south of the borough.

The High Court rejected the challenge by Leisure Link, which was linked to the Council's proposal to redevelop the facilities through a Public Private Partnership, because there were no grounds to proceed with the case.

Council Leader, Mike Slaughter, said: "I am pleased that the Council's position has been vindicated. Our objective is to build three leisure centres, providing enhanced leisure facilities within the borough that our residents will want to use. We hope that Leisure Link will now co-operate with the Council to bring about a seamless transition to the new arrangements that can only be good for Bexley."

From what I can find out the names of the two companies bidding are called Boxwood Ltd and Olympia Leisure Ltd. Olympia is the consortium set up by Leisure Link, so Boxwood must be Parkwoods Consortium as I cannot find any info to say that Parkwood already run these Leisure Centres.

Lets hope that Leisure Link have put their foot in it by upsetting the judges.

Another press release on the Bexley website from Aug 2001 said they would pick the winner in Dec 2001, but their is no news to confirm if they have decided yet.
