Potential expansion with potentially regula news on the bidding for the new sales areas
TNP currently supplies its products to 1,174 Chinese clinics and pharmacies, through its third
party wholesalers, in 13 provinces throughout China. This represents 1.95 percent of the total
number of OTC outlets it could supply in these 13 provinces (there are 60,315 in total). The
Directors believe that there is potential to increase TNP's business further by increasing the
number of clinics and pharmacies to which it markets.
Additionally there are 7,240 major hospitals and another 20,466 smaller ''township'' hospitals in
10 provinces in China where TNP supplies its products. The supply of Chinese medicines to
hospitals is administered by a ''fair-bidding'' system. This is a system whereby suppliers are
invited to make a proposal for the supply of such medicines to hospitals in a particular province
and then the supplier will be chosen based on certain criteria set by the hospitals.
Before a company can sell its products to hospitals in China (whether through a third party or
direct) it must have been successful in the ''fair bidding'' process in respect of each product it
wants to supply in the particular Chinese province in which that hospital is located. There are 32
Chinese provinces in China and, to-date, TNP has been successful in 10. During 2007, it is the
Directors' intention to enter the 'fair bidding process' in a further 17 of the remaining 22
provinces thereby potentially increasing TNP's market share.
I hope you find it of interest
