"2007 Make or break year for FBT , abandon the PRO edit market and go after the social network internet sites is my advice ."
Product wise I think Forbidden are right to take this approach. The end result is they have more options open to them. They have something that is easier to scale down to the consumer rather than a product targetted at a consumer that could be far harder to scale up.
The exposure to companies such as the BBC is very good PR, as is the RTS award, and none of this is likely to have happened had the focus been solely on consumers. I think they should keep plugging away at professional applications of FORscene. The consumer side is getting crowded.
I'd be interested to hear how the Church group got on with FORscene. I.e. organisations that want to 'do video' but do not have access to / funds for conventional professional broadcast facilities.
"Trying to predict exactly what will emerge next from this massive experiment in online social behaviour is a mug’s game"
Quite agree! It's hard to engineer 'the next best thing' where consumers are concerned - you really wonder how some ideas get the backing they do (perhaps a board full of yes men goes some way to explain things). Perhaps these companies ought to look more at their talent pool. Trouble is that there are only so many Steve Jobs (and Mr Streaters) to go around!
