2005, a pivotal year for Axis-Shield, with strong growth and profitability
Rarebit - Wed, 28 Dec 05 :
Dear All,
I agree that this is a solid, LTBH company, but nevertheless remain disappointed by the announcement before Xmas.
I'm especially worried by the delay in the 'roll-out' of Afinion. Reading further through the statement, we see that emphasis is placed on 'securing sufficient robustness for global marketing' and that 'automatic calibration continues to be a priority'.
Reading b/w the lines, I suspect that ASD have encountered some difficulty ensuring that the sophisticated calibration device in the unit can withstand the inevitable bumps and knocks associated with commercial freight transport.
Its one thing to transport a trial product to a medical fair in a briefcase stowed as hand luggage, another to have it rattling around in a freight container. My guess would be that the automatic calibration system in the unit is failing to withstand the rigors of transportation, and is having to be re-designed etc.
Also, why the 'constructive discussions' about CLIA approval. My understanding was that products were simply examined / analysed and received the accreditation. 'Discussions', however positive, suggests that the FDA were not prepared to give waiver to the submitted product. God alone knows why, but another question mark?
I desperately hope this share succeeds, but however much we try to rationalise the statement, it was not positive. Lets hope for better news soon.
