I am one of 'CCHs lab boys' as you call them and essentially you are spouting a load of rubbish. I actually worked on the MPI programme about 7 or 8 years ago but there is currently no such research at CCH. Our opinion always was that BBG's inhibitors were very poor and we were not the slightest bit surprised that Marimastat and Batimastat failed.
I have absolutely no idea what PF is thinking but personally I would be very very surprised if there was any takeover of BBG by CCH. The most likely scenario is a cull of the rubbish such as the immunotoxin with Immunogen for lung cancer and then either an asset stripping exercise or a merger with a biotech company with a pipeline but not enough money (my prediction is Xen).
I stress that these views are based on absolutely no inside information and are purely IMHO.
