Yeah I think that the idea is really more for short term gains, however if someone can show that one buy over a long term is going to make more than a day trader, then fair enough..;)
Please feel free to do a more in depth analysis to either
a) demonstrate a higher %p.w over a shorter time or
b) why you don't think it will make that gain.
At the end of the day i think one has to go on the rate of increase per week %p.w.
if a prediction has a higher %pw and over a longer period of time, this doesn't stop people from getting out at any point. as soon as a more in depth analysis can be made we can adjust accordingly.
Also if the share surges upwards then the amount left to go will suddenly decrease and if the target date is a long period of time away then the %p.w will fall dramatically, thereby taking itself off the list (perhaps temporarily)
