Actually, I think there is more to it than that. Short interest has been there for many months/years. IMO the drop was sector wide and the magnitude increased because LILM the German company is shutting down, laying off and attempting to sell the eVTOL business. Add in the fact that both ACHR and JOBY were way overbought with strong negative divergences for retrace and the combination of all that plus negativity in articles for the short term and the sector is in correction mode. Anyone wishing to add shares will have a great opportunity IMO.

The eVTOL space is estimated at $1Trillion. There will be huge winners eventually. All IMO only.
As with any stock, buyers should do their DD and beware the external pressures. If one wants the closest possible to a sure thing buy CD's or some other stable financial instrument.

Joby Aviation (NYSE: JOBY) stock is falling in Monday's trading. The flying electric vehicle company's share price was down 10.2% as of 1 p.m. ET.

After an impressive rally, Joby Aviation's valuation is now falling as some investors are betting against the stock. Short-sellers are also placing bets against Joby's competitor Archer Aviation, and its stock is down 23.7% today as of this writing. Even with today's pullback, Joby's share price is still up roughly 65% over the last month.

Short interest on Joby Aviation stock is increasing
As early frontrunners in a speculative emerging industry, Joby Aviation and Archer Aviation have often seen their respective stocks make corresponding moves. In November, Needham published a bullish report on both companies and the broader flying taxi industry. Needham believes that the flying EV market is taking off and that key regulatory approvals will eventually arrive, paving the way for Joby and Archer to make the jump to product commercialization and rapid sales growth.
Needham's bullish coverage helped power explosive gains for Joby and Archer over the last month, but some investors are now betting that both stocks will start coming back down to earth. Short interest on both stocks has been rising, and the uptick in bearish momentum is likely causing other investors to take profits on the heels of massive rallies.

What comes next for Joby Aviation stock?
Over the long term, Joby Aviation's stock performance will be determined by whether or not the company receives regulatory approvals and successfully scales its vehicle production and marketing operations. While the company has a highly growth-dependent and speculative valuation, the outlook on the regulatory front is fairly promising. The company recently completed a test flight in Japan and has received substantial investment from Toyota Motor, and it's also recently been scaling up its operational footprint in Saudi Arabia.

I will be watching these 3 steps first before thinking about 6's. Besides indicator cooling I will be watching for volume movement and money flow for keys to support or more down. Candles can add to the picture as well. So will be watching for signal candles and patterns.
Note on volume that green bars are still dominant. Monday action and close will tell a lot. All IMO only.

Definitely hear what you're saying, this is a really long hold in my opinion. I'm thinking I'll will these shares to my kids. The fact that JOBY is on a short list of future areonatics means these shares are solid gold and wouldn't flip for anything, just adding dips. 

mI am looking for where price finds support now. Daily chart says price needs to consolidate and move back inside both the BB's and and Kchannel top lines and momentum indicators need to cool. It could keep going some with more strong news, however generally speaking the higher a price move without building support the bigger the drop from the the parabolic high. We shall see. Whole sector has had a good week.

People dumping $JOBY like they expected it to have $1B in revenue. People are so fickle!!! Buy the dip!

It is not a hot sector right now, so other than mini runs/pops and slides, I agree that it (and the sector buzz) will be in 2025-2026. That said, these ups and downs are excellent for building a position with a low or zero cost basis for the future depending on ones trading style.

Joby Applies to Become First Certified Electric Air Taxi Operator in UAE

Joby Aviation, Inc. (NYSE:JOBY), a company developing electric air taxis for commercial passenger service, today announced it has taken the first step towards becoming a certified air taxi operator in the United Arab Emirates.

Whole sector is down right now. JOBY down along with all the other eVTOL stocks.

Following its usual cyclical path. Will continue this pattern until commercialization IMO.
Buying dips and selling rips until then, while building a core of low priced or free shares. Just my style, not trading advice for anyone else.
