British Airways increase direct flights to the Caribbean

British Airways have announced that they will be commencing a new weekly direct route from London Gatwick to St Kitts every Saturday from January 10th 2009, marking the first time the airline will offer service to this Caribbean island.

The flight will depart London Gatwick at 10:30 and arrive in Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport at 16:45. The return flight will depart St. Kitts at 18:15 and arrive into London Gatwick at 07:50 on Sunday morning.

The new route from British Airways is the latest increase in direct flights to the island, which has also seen a rise in services by American Airlines and Delta Airlines.

For the sophisticated, discerning traveller, this is obviously excellent news and shows that there is a significant demand for the Caribbean.

This announcement follows on from British Airways increase of direct flights from London Gatwick to St Lucia to three times a week as of 26th October 2008.

Flights to St Lucia will now depart on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from London Gatwick at 10:25 and will arrive in Hewanorra International airport at 15:20. Return flights depart at 21:05 and arrive in London Gatwick at 05:30 the following morning.

This is fantastic news for property investors in what appears to be a turbulent economic climate. The increase in premium flight services to the Caribbean means that tourist traffic is at its highest resulting in higher rental returns and property appreciation.

St Lucia is currently experiencing 15-20% annual appreciation which is set to continue. With the announcement of increasing air travel available and the strength of the pound against the dollar, the Caribbean offers a secure investment in a desirable location.
