Imperial Energy notes reports and comments today attributed to the Russian
Ministry of Natural Resources and the publication of a press release on the
Ministry's web site.



The press release inter alia makes allegations surrounding the accuracy of
Imperial's reserves and Imperial's compliance with its licence obligations.
Imperial Energy is not aware of any grounds for the statements made against it.
The Company only yesterday received a formal written Act of Confirmation from
the Ministry of Natural Resources stating that the Company has met or exceeded
all of its licence obligations and commitments. In addition the Group's recent
reserve report was produced in accordance with international standards by
DeGolyer and MacNaughton.



Following receipt of this written Act of Confirmation, Imperial Energy has not
received any further notification from The Ministry of Natural Resources.



The Company is now seeking further clarification from the Ministry following
today's media speculation and press release.
