USA TODAY High School Sports Unveils 2012 American Family Insurance ALL-USA Football Team

MCLEAN, Va., Dec. 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- USA TODAY High School Sports -- the nation's leading source for high school sports news and information -- today unveiled the 2012 American Family Insurance ALL-USA high school football team, honoring the best offensive and defensive high school football players in the USA during the past season.

The ALL-USA Offense is led by Offensive Player of the Year Max Browne of Skyline HS (Sammamish, Wash.), who threw for 49 touchdowns and more than 4,500 yards this season in leading his team to a 14-0 record and the Class 4A state championship. The ALL-USA Defense is led by Defensive Player of the Year Su'a Cravens of Vista Murrieta HS (Murrieta, Calif.), a dynamic two-way player who led his team to a 13-1 record this season and scored 17 total touchdowns from both sides of the ball. Both players have committed to play next season at the University of Southern California.

J.T. Curtis of 14-0 John Curtis (River Ridge, La.), the No. 1 team in this year's season-ending USA TODAY High School Sports Super 25, has been named the Coach of the Year.

The full 2012 preseason American Family Insurance ALL-USA high school football team (first and second teams) appears in today's print edition of USA TODAY and is also available online at http://www.usatodayhss.com.  The American Family Insurance ALL-USA Team and its year-end player and coach awards have been given out annually since 1982 and are considered the highest such honors in high school football, with past player of the year honorees such as running back Emmitt Smith (Escambia, Pensacola, Fla.) in 1986 and linebacker Derrick Brooks (Washington, also Pensacola) in 1990 going on to star-studded careers in the NFL.

Two defensive players -- 6-1 defensive back Jabrill Peppers of Paramus (N.J.) Catholic, and 6-4 lineman Andrew Brown from Oscar Smith (Chesapeake, Va.) -- are the lone underclassmen represented on this year's ALL-USA first team. Both players are juniors.

In all, players from 16 states are represented on this year's team, with the highest representation coming from Alabama with four players -- OL Grant Hill of Huntsville, LB Reuben Foster of Auburn, DL Dee Liner of Muscle Shoals, and DB Marquez White of Dothan's Northview HS. The state of Florida was next with three players (RB Derrick Henry of Yulee, OT Laremy Tunsil of Lake City's Columbia HS, and CB Vernon Hargreaves III of Tampa's Wharton HS).

USC, Alabama and Oregon lead all college programs with two ALL-USA commits each. Six of the senior ALL-USA selections are still yet to declare their college destination.

Following is the complete listing of this year's American Family Insurance ALL-USA First Team, as determined by USA TODAY High School Sports. For more information on the ALL-USA Team, including a full listing of the ALL-USA First and Second teams, visit www.usatodayhss.com.
