Consumer Reports magazine said its testing for two Ford Motor
Co. (F) hybrids found that their fuel economy performance is "far
below" their stated miles-per-gallon figures, according to reports
from Reuters and the Los Angeles Times.
Consumer Reports said the Fusion hybrid tested at 39 mpg
overall, with 37 mpg overall for the C-Max, compared with estimates
of 47 mpg for both vehicles, the reports said.
A Ford spokesman told Reuters "this reinforces the fact that
driving styles, driving conditions, and other factors can cause
mileage to vary."
