Ku'uhaku Park Joins Matson as Vice President, Government and Community Relations

HONOLULU, Nov. 15, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Matson, Inc. (NYSE: MATX), a leading U.S. carrier in the Pacific, announced that Ku'uhaku Park has joined Matson Navigation Company, Inc. ("Matson") as vice president, government and community relations, at the company's headquarters in Honolulu.  Park will be responsible for directing Matson's government relations and community service activities in Hawaii.  He also will lead the company's efforts in promoting and developing the Matson Foundation.

Park was most recently the managing principal of Oni Malie, LLC, a Honolulu consulting firm offering government relations, business development and project management services.  Prior to that, he held the position of manager, public affairs group, at Watanabe Ing, LLP.  He also has been government and public affairs manager for the Hawaii division of Horizon Lines, Inc., as well marketing manager for Hawaii Family Dental Centers/Hawaii Bio-Waste Systems.  Other experience includes serving as marketing director for Westcom Productions, a sports video company in Oregon.

By gubernatorial appointment, Park was named to the State Commission on Transportation and has just completed his second term as its chair.  He currently sits on the board of directors of the Institute for Human Services, the Hawaii Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation, the Hawaii Home Ownership Center, the Makaha Sons Foundation and the Na Koa Football Club. 

He is a founding member of the Hawaii Harbor Users Group and the Hawaii Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation and is still very active in both groups.

Previously, he served as a director-at-large of the Hawaii Transportation Association and a member of the Bishop Museum Association Council.

Park is a graduate of Kamehameha Schools and earned a bachelor's of arts degree in communications from Lewis & Clark College.
