TODAY High School Sports, the nation's leading source for high
school sports news and information, today unveiled the 2012
Preseason American Family Insurance ALL-USA High School Basketball Team, spotlighting
the most promising talent in the U.S. for the upcoming season.
Simeon Career Academy (Chicago,
Ill.) senior Jabari
Parker, a 6-8 forward who led his school to a third
consecutive 4A state title with an average of 19.5 points, 8.9
rebounds and 4.9 assists per game last season, is one of two
returning players from last season's All-USA team. The other is Montverde Academy
(Fla.) senior guard Kasey
Hill, a 6-0 University of
Florida recruit who helped the Eagles to a runner-up finish
at last season's National High School Invitational with an average
of 14.0 points and 6.8 assists per game.
The full 2012 Preseason American Family Insurance
ALL-USA High School Basketball
Team appears in today's print edition of USA TODAY and is also available online at
http://www.usatodayhss.com. The American Family Insurance
ALL-USA Team and its year-end
player and coach awards have been given out annually since 1982 and
are considered the highest such honors in high school sports.
Two juniors—Tyus Jones of
Apple Valley (Minn.) and Jahlil
Okafor of Whitney Young
(Chicago, Ill.) —are the sole
non-seniors on this year's Preseason American Family Insurance
ALL-USA Basketball Team.
Jones, a 6-2 point guard, averaged 28.1 points, eight
assists, 4.8 rebounds and 3.4 steals per game last season to lead
his team to a runner-up finish in the Class 4A Section 3
tournament. Okafor, a 6-10 center, led Whitney Young to a state semifinal finish by
averaging 24.8 points and 12.6 rebounds. He was also named MVP of
the FIBA U17 World Championship.
Also leading the ALL-USA team
are Kentucky-bound twin brothers Aaron
Harrison and Andrew
Harrison of Travis (Richmond,
Texas). Aaron is a 6-5 shooting guard, while Andrew is a 6-5
point guard. They teamed up to lead the Tigers to a state 5A
runner-up finish last year. Aaron averaged 18.8 points, 4.6
rebounds, 2.5 steals and 2.7 assists while Andrew averaged 12.1
points, 6.0 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals.
Two reclassified seniors — Andrew
Wiggins of Huntington Prep (W.Va.) and Noah Vonleh of New
Hampton School (Haverhill,
Mass.) — have also been named to the preseason team.
Wiggins, a 6-7 small forward and native of Toronto who averaged 24.1 points and 7.0
rebounds per game, was the MVP of the Nike Hoop Summit.
Vonleh, a 6-8 power forward, was named MVP of last season's
Adidas Nations Tournament.
In all, 10 players from seven states are represented on this
year's preseason ALL-USA squad,
with the highest representation coming from Texas with three players selected.
Illinois placed two players.
