Lady Gaga will this week arrive in Iceland to collect the
LennonOno Grant for Peace for her charity work and tireless
promotion of LGBT rights around the world. Iceland's new low-cost
airline, WOW air is bursting with excitement at the news and wants
to invite you to visit too.
The worldwide pop sensation Lady Gaga will fly to Iceland this
Tuesday to receive the LennonOno Grant for Peace from Yoko Ono,
alongside four other worthy recipients, including the Russian
feminist punk group Pussy Riot. And thanks to cheap flights to
Iceland with WOW air, you could soon be there too.
Pussy Riot received their grant at a special Amnesty
International-backed ceremony in New York this September and the
band are using the money in their ongoing battle to free their
three imprisoned members.
Those taking flights to Iceland this week will also notice a
strange light in the night sky - the LennonOno Imagine Peace Tower,
which pierces the darkness with an extremely intense beam of
renewably powered white light every night from the late John
Lennon's birthday on the 9th October each year to the anniversary
of his assassination on the 8th December.
The Imagine Peace Tower is near to Reykjavik on Videy island,
and tourists and locals alike are able to take a ten minute ferry
ride to the island and see the remarkable piece of art for
themselves.
Other recipients of the Grant for Peace 2012 are Rachel Corrie,
the 23-year-old peaceful protestor killed by an Israeli bulldozer
in 2003, whose parents will accept the award and donate the funds
to the Rachel Corrie Foundation for Peace and Justice; Confessions
of an Economic Hitman author John Perkins, who will accept the
award in person and donate the money to Dream Change; and
Christopher Hitchens, the late journalist and author of
anti-establishment classics like God is not Great, whose widow will
accept the award and donate the money to 826 National and PEN.

Tower, why it is such a peaceful place to visit, and how to get
there and what to do, take a look at www.wowiceland.com.
