EU Almunia: Google To Offer Remedies In Anti-trust Case

The European Commission said Monday it would offer internet
giant Google Inc. (GOOG) the chance to offer remedies against
anti-trust complaints brought by more than a dozen companies,
including Microsoft Corp. (MSFT).
Competition Commissioner Joaquin Almunia said Google had been
pushing for a settlement in the case and therefore offered the
company the opportunity to propose remedies to four areas of
concern, including general Internet searches.
"I offer Google the possibility to come up in a matter of weeks
with remedies," said Almunia.
The European Union watchdog launched an investigation last
November into the world's most popular search engine after more
than a dozen rival accused it of abusing its dominant position in
the market for Web search engines.
Last month, Expedia Inc. (EXPE) became the latest big company to
take their case to the Commission.
