Benedict Cumberbatch and Johnny Lee Miller. Originally performed and
pre-recorded live in March 2011, Frankenstein will be broadcast to more

Childlike in his innocence but grotesque in form, Frankenstein’s
bewildered creature is cast out into a hostile universe by his
horror-struck maker. Meeting with cruelty wherever he goes, the
friendless Creature, increasingly desperate and vengeful, determines to
track down his creator and strike a terrifying deal. Urgent concerns of
scientific responsibility, parental neglect, cognitive development and
the nature of good and evil are embedded within this thrilling and
deeply disturbing classic gothic tale.
In the stage production, Cumberbatch and Miller alternated the roles of
Victor Frankenstein and the Creature. Frankenstein was filmed
twice so that cinema audiences may see the actors in each role. Frankenstein
has won a number of awards including the 2012 Olivier Award for best
actor for Cumberbatch and Miller as well as best lighting design; two
Evening Standard Awards; two Critics’ Circle Theatre Awards and the
What’s on Stage Awards for best director.
"Fans have asked to see this award-winning production in their local
movie theaters and Fathom is thrilled to be able to answer the demand,”
said Shelly Maxwell, executive vice president of NCM Fathom Events.
