A German court Friday postponed its decisions on alleged infringement by Samsung Electronics Co. (005930.SE) of two Apple Inc. (AAPL) patents, in a global patent litigation battle among several makers of electronic devices.
Apple alleges Samsung has violated two patents that are related to scrolling through and zooming into pictures on mobile devices with the help of swiping gestures on the touch screen.
The Mannheim regional court adjourned one case pending a resolution of a parallel case in proceedings at Germany's Federal Patent Court, which will decide whether the patent is valid. The case concerns the European patent number EP2059868 for page-flipping in photo galleries.
The court postponed ruling on the other case, regarding Apple's pinch-to-zoom patent with German utility model number DE212008000001, by a week due to time constraints.
