The Bank of England's mortgage approvals data for March and the CIPS/Markit construction PMI report for April are due at 4:30 am ET Wednesday. Ahead of these reports, the pound showed mixed trading against its major counterparts. While the pound pared gains against the yen, it rose against the franc and the euro. Against the greenback, the pound fell.

At 4:25 am ET, the pound was worth 1.6198 against the greenback, 130.10 against the yen, 1.4777 against the franc and 0.8136 against the euro.
