American Safety Insurance Services, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of
American Safety Insurance Holdings, Ltd. (NYSE:ASI), has made a number
of promotions and new hires to support its continued growth in the
specialty insurance marketplace.
Ambuj Jain (“AJ”) has been named Chief Underwriting Officer of ASI’s
U.S. Insurance Operations. Mr. Jain has been affiliated with ASI since
1999 and has held senior management positions with the Company since
2004.
Preston Starr has been promoted to Senior Vice President - E&S Casualty,
and Scott Kreuzer has been promoted to Vice President - Environmental.
Michael Cifone has joined ASI as Senior Vice President - Surety, and,
Ellen O’Connor has joined ASI as Senior Vice President - Property. Under
the new underwriting leadership structure, all three will report to Mr.
Jain.
Mr. Starr will oversee the Primary Casualty, Excess, Environmental and
Professional Liability Units. Formerly, Mr. Starr was Vice President -
Environmental. Mr. Starr has been with ASI since 2004 when he was hired
as a senior casualty underwriter. He has 15 years of experience in the
insurance industry, with the past 5 years serving in a management
capacity.
Prior to his promotion, Mr. Kreuzer served as Assistant Vice President -
Environmental. In his new role, he will have direct oversight of all of
ASI’s Environmental business. He has been with ASI since 1996 and has
been in the Environmental Unit since 2005. Mr. Kreuzer’s background also
includes experience in Claims and IT departments.
Mr. Cifone comes to ASI with 20 years of experience in the surety
market. Prior to joining ASI, Mr. Cifone was Senior Vice President at
Acstar Insurance Company and also worked at KPMG, LLP. He will be
responsible for all of ASI’s Surety business.
Ms. O’Connor joins ASI as the Senior Vice President - Property, coming
to ASI with over 35 years of property insurance experience. Prior to
joining ASI, Ms. O’Conner spent 17 years at Seneca/Crum & Forster, where
she was the Senior Vice President of Custom Property and Inland Marine,
overseeing six offices and a staff of over 50 people. Ms. O’Connor spent
earlier portions of her career with Hartford and Chubb.
Commenting on the promotions and new hires, Mr. Jain, Chief Underwriting
Officer of ASI said, “Preston Starr has been instrumental in our growth
and success in the eight years he has been with the Company. In
particular, he has done an outstanding job of turning around, building
and leading the Environmental Unit since 2007. Scott Kreuzer brings a
wealth of diverse experience and has worked hard to support the growth
of the Environmental Unit.” Regarding Mr. Cifone and Ms. O’Connor, Mr.
Jain commented that, “Adding professionals with Mike and Ellen’s

expand our underwriting capabilities. These segments of the market
