Network equipment joint venture Nokia Siemens Networks (NOK, SI)
said Wednesday that it has been selected as the sole supplier of
Swedish telecommunications operator Tele2's (TEL2-B.SK)
fourth-generation, long-term evolution radio and core networks in
Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia.
MAIN FACTS:
-"With increased adoption of smart devices and demand for
high-speed data services, we want to build LTE networks in the
Baltics," said Niklas Sonkin, central Europe and Eurasia market
area director at Tele2.
-Nokia Siemens also said it will modernize and expand Tele2's
Global System for Mobile Communications, or GSM, and
third-generation networks in the Baltics.
-The 4G deployment and network modernization will be enabled
using Nokia Siemens Networks' Single RAN, or radio access network,
and Liquid Core technology.
-No financial details were disclosed.
-At 1013 GMT, shares in Nokia were up 1.5% at EUR2.77, and
shares in Tele2 were up 1.3% at SEK124.40.
