The preliminary report of the Reuters/University of Michigan's consumer sentiment survey for April is expected at 9:55 am ET Friday. Ahead of the data, the dollar edged up against other major counterparts.

At 9:50 am ET, the dollar was worth 81.05 against the yen, 1.5927 against the pound, 0.9167 against the franc and 1.3116 against the euro.



NYSE and AMEX quotes are delayed by at least 20 minutes.
